In a blog post that touches on choice and happiness, the renowned leadership expert and bestselling author, Marshall Goldsmith, talks about the necessity of choice in creating a life of fulfillment, but reminds us that choices need to be considered and informed by facts.
Goldsmith writes, “Creating an earned life begins with a choice. It begins with sifting through all the ideas you harbor for your future (assuming you have ideas) and choosing to commit to one idea above all the others. This is easy to say and not so easy to do.”
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine started out as a comic and an actor. When he ran for president, he didn’t anticipate becoming one of the world’s most visible leaders, an inspiration to millions in the face of Russian aggression and Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. But it seems that even though becoming president may not have been his first career choice, Volodymr Zelensky has become the right person for the right role at the right time.
Most recently, President Zelensky praised the readiness of Finland to apply for NATO membership, following Russia’s Ukraine invasion. As Russia’s war batters eastern Ukraine and damages the global economy, it is also creating unintended consequences for Putin, whose aggression is giving rise to a stronger, Western-aligned security architecture in Europe, the very thing the Russian leader had hoped to weaken. Putin’s choice to invade Ukraine did not have the results he had hoped for.
