Surprising news lately has been the crash of cryptocurrency, the next big thing for certain financial speculators. Marshall Goldsmith explores the power of confidence and credibility.
“As Peter Drucker said, ‘Every decision in the world is made by the person who has the power to make the decision. Make peace with that.’”

In a blog post related to building authority, adapted from his new book The Earned Life, the renowned leadership expert and bestselling author Marshall Goldsmith explores the power of confidence and credibility.
Goldsmith writes: “If you want to elevate your credibility, start by committing statements from Peter Druckerto memory: ‘Every decision in the world is made by the person who has the power to make the decision. Make peace with that.’ And ‘If we need to influence someone in order to make a positive difference, that person is our customer and we are a salesperson.’ And ‘Our customer does not need to buy; we need to sell. When we are trying to sell, our personal definition of value is far less important than our customer’s definition of value.’ And ‘We should focus our energy where we can actually make a positive difference in the world.’ And ‘Sell what we can sell and change what we can change. Let go of what we cannot sell or change.’”
One of the most stunning bits of news recently — apart from the terrible war in Ukraine — has been the drop in the value of cryptocurrency. The decline in cryptocurrency is more severe than the broader plunge in the stock market. While the S&P 500 is down 18 percent so far this year, Bitcoin's price has dropped 40 percent in the same period. A reason for the decline may be a loss of confidence in the crypto market amid economic pressures around the world brought on by Russia's invasion of Ukraine and post Covid lockdowns.
